Tour Plan

day 1: yangon arrrival (l/d)

Upon arrival at the Yangon International Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour guide. You will be transfer to your hotel, for a chance to relax and refresh.

In the late afternoon, we begin our tour through Yangon city with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments; the 2,600 years old Shwedagone Pagoda. Once sunset arrives, glittering in the dark skyline, Shwedagone Pagoda is indeed a sight to behold.

After breakfast at your hotel, we head to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda in Mon state. On the way, you will visit to the Allied War Cemetery near Htauk Kyant. The largest among of the 3 war cemeteries in Myanmar, Htauk Kyant War Cemetery is a beautiful, well maintained peaceful cemetery and the final resting place for over 27,000 Allied soldiers.

Kyaikhtiyo, located 160 KM from Yangon, this famous landmark the 'Golden Rock' is a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. Our first stop would be at Kin Pun base camp.
From there, you will go up a steep 11 km road in, typically crowded public open air trucks rushing though windy jungle paths, to reach the pagoda. The exciting heart pounding journey is expected to be about 45 minutes. The final ascend to the Golden Rock will be on foot (20 minutes of hiking).

Should you decide for a longer hiking journey, you can top to stop at the middle camp, Hermit Hill. From here, it will be 60 minutes of hiking. You have 2 options for accommodations (Mountain Top Hotel at the top of the hill, or another at base camp, Kimpun).

From the mountain top, you will enjoy great views of the surrounding hills and a beautiful sunset. Then we will stroll around to the local restaurants and herbs stalls near the pagoda.

Before dawn, local pilgrims would gather at the Golden Rock to make offerings in the solitude of the morning. 
To experience this, and a great photo opportunity, after an early breakfast at your hotel, you will have the option to visit the Golden Rock again to see the golden sun rise, casting it rays upon the rock.
Next, we will return to base camp by public open-air truck again and depart from Kyaikhtiyo to continue on a two-hour drive to Hpa An (120 km – 2h). It is a small town surrounded by beautiful limestone rock formations and is the capital of the Karen state. On the way, we will stop for lunch at local restaurant in Thaton, the former capital of Mon Kingdom. 
Upon arrival at Hpa An, we will pay a visit to Bayin Nyi Cave where you will find a hot spring lake with beautiful views of a temple complex and cave. Kaw Goon Cave is a very historical with over 2000 stone tablets with Mon inscriptions and hundreds of small Buddha statues on the walls and roof cravings.
From there, move to visit the Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda, which is a famous pagoda and that you, can make photo stops. We will then stop at the Lake Kanthar Yar for a nice view of Zwe Kabin Mountain, a landmark of Kayin state.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will make our way to Sadan Cave. It starts off as a typical cave in Myanmar, full of Buddha images but after you have venture deeper into the cave, a natural tunnel will come into your view. At the end of the tunnel, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of a hidden lake and meadow.

Before leaving to Hpa An, our final stop is Kyauk Kalat Pagoda, a small stupa built on top of a pillar like rock formation on a small island in the middle of the lake.

In late afternoon, we will head back north to Mawlamyine, the Mon State capital, formerly known as Moulmein. The town also served as the capital of British Burma between 1827 and 1852 and to date, retains some of its charm from the colonial times.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will spend the day touring the once thriving port city and colonial post of Mawlamyine on a trishaw. On the agenda will be the colourful Mawlamyine central market, a bustling atmosphere where miscellaneous local souvenirs are sold.

Mahamuni Pagoda, a major temple site in Myanmar, built in traditional Mon style is next on the list. Then we continue to the beautiful Sein Done Mibaya Kyaung, an over-100 year’s old wooden monastery.
After lunch, proceed driving up (1 hr) to the Bilu Island, we will visit Ywa Loot Village where you will see the small wood workshops to observe of the artisanal work producing Myanmar walking sticks, Burmese Slates (Kyauk Thin Bone) and pens.

Next, continue (1 ½ hrs) the journey to Thanbyuzayat. It is located 70 km south of Mawlamyine, was the western terminal of the infamous Burma-Siam ‘Death Railway’.

In late early evening, return to Mawlamyine to enjoy the sunset from Kyaik Thanlan Pagoda, also known as the Kipling Pagoda, the city's tallest and most visible stupa.

After an early breakfast at your hotel, we will return back to Yangon (313 km - 6 hours).

Then, continue visiting Bago on the way. Previously Bago was a capital of the Mon Kingdom and built by King Bayint Naung in the mid-16th century.

We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Bago and continue sightseeing to the 55-meter long reclining Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha. Sightseeing will continue to the thousand-year old Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Built with Mon architecture and 114 meters tall with its spire, it also stands taller than the Shwedagone Pagoda.

Before heading back to Yangon, we will make a stop to visit the four giant Buddha images at Kyaik Pun Pagoda and upon arrival; we will transfer back to your hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, we spend the day visiting Yangon. The last leg of this odyssey includes Botahtaung Pagoda, colonial buildings along the Strand Road, Sule Pagoda, which located in the middle of the central business district, and Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, famous for housing an enormous 65 meter long reclining Buddha statue. 

After lunch, we stop by Karaweik Hall, a unique golden barge on Kandawgyi (Royal Lake). In the afternoon, we visit to Bogyoke Aung San Market also known as Scott Market (which is closed on Mondays and Public holidays). A must visit for tourist; here you can see rows of stalls selling hundreds of gemstone, handicrafts, art, clothes and food stores.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.

After lunch, you will transfer to Yangon airport for international flight departure.
