Tour Plan

day 1: yangon arrrival (l/d)

Upon arrival at the Yangon International Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour guide. You will be transfer to your hotel, for a chance to relax and refresh.

In the afternoon, visit first to the Chauk Htet Gyi Pagoda, famous for housing an enormous 65 meters long reclining Buddha statue.

From there, our tour through Yangon city with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments; the 2,600 years old Shwedagone Pagoda. Once sunset arrives, glittering in the dark skyline, it is indeed a sight to behold.

After breakfast at your hotel, we head to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda in Mon state. On the way, you will visit the Allied War Cemetery near Htauk Kyant. It is a beautiful, well maintained peaceful cemetery and the final resting place for over 27,000 Allied soldiers.

Proceed visiting to Kyaikhtiyo, located 160 km from Yangon, and 'Golden Rock' is a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. Our first stop would be at Kin Pun base camp.
From there, you will go up a steep 11 km road in, typically crowded public open air trucks take you to reach the upper place of Pagoda. The exciting heart pounding journey is expected to be about 45 minutes. The final ascend to the Golden Rock will be on foot (20 minutes of hiking).
Should you decide for a longer hiking journey, you can top to stop at the middle camp, Hermit hill. From here it, will be 60 minutes of hiking. You have 2 options for accommodations (Mountain Top Hotel at the top of the hill, or Golden Rock Hotel in the middle camp or another at the base camp, Kimpun).
From the mountain top, you will enjoy great views of the surrounding hills and a beautiful sunset. Then we will stroll around to the local restaurants and herbs stalls near the pagoda.

Before dawn, local pilgrims would gather at the Golden Rock to make offerings in the solitude of the morning. 
To experience this, and a great photo opportunity, after an early breakfast at your hotel, you will have the option to visit the Golden Rock again to see the golden sun rise, casting it rays upon the rock.

After that, we will return back to Yangon. Then, continue visiting Bago on the way. Previously Bago was a capital of the Mon Kingdom and built by King Bayint Naung in the mid-16th century.

We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Bago when we arrived and proceed sightseeing to the 55-meters long reclining Shwe Tha Hlyaung Buddha. Sightseeing will continue to the thousand-year old Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Built with Mon architecture Shwemawdaw Pagoda is one of the most venerated pagodas in Myanmar and at 114 meters tall with its spire, it stands taller than the Shwedagone Pagoda.

Before heading back to Yangon, we will make a stop to visit the four giant Buddha images at Kyaik Pun Pagoda and upon arrival in Yangon; we will transfer back to your hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Bagan. We begin the tour with visit to the famous Shwezigone Pagoda, considered the most wonderful and shouldn’t miss pagoda in Bagan. Nearby Shwezigone, we will visit Wetkyi Inn Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite mural paintings and the elegant Htilominlo Temple, noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.

Continue touring to the famous pagodas in Bagan, we arrive at Ananda Temple, which is famous for an architectural masterpiece, and it has four standing giant Buddha Statues.
In the evening, we resume our journey on horse cart, Thatbyunnyut, the highest temple in Bagan, Dhammayangyi, the largest temple in Bagan.

Finally, we will finish the evening with an unforgettable sunset over the plains from the one of the Sunset Hill viewpoints.

Remark: The government strictly prohibited to climb all the temple in Bagan since February 2018.

After breakfast at your hotel, start the day at the colourful Nyaung Oo Market, where locals come to buy and sell fresh product and other goods every day. Take a walk around and you will see the production of Pone Yeh Gyi.

Afterwards, head to Myinkaba Village and visit Gubyaukgyi Temple, to admire the beautiful mural paintings and well-preserved plaster carvings. Nearby are Manuha Temple and Nan Paya Temple, two smaller temples known for its Buddha statues and stone work.
Lacquer ware and woodcrafts are two of Myanmar’s famous handicrafts. You will observe how these are made as we visit two workshops in Bagan.
After the lunch break, we will return to the hotel to seek refuge from the hot sun.
Once the sun has cooled, we head to the Ayeyarwaddy River to embark on a private river cruise toward Kyauk Gu U Min Cave. Upon arrival in Kyauk Gu U Min, a five to ten minute walk takes us to temple a beautiful temple, with stone carving depicting religious figures. The cave was built during the 13th century for the locals to hide from the invading Mongols. Now it is used as a secluded place for meditation.
After exploring, we return to the boat for a relaxing sun set cruise back to Bagan down the Ayeyarwaddy River.

Balloon Experience Over Bagan - Experience the majestic landscape of Bagan with a soul-altering hot-air balloon ride over Bagan at sunrise -a thrill that promises to be a highlight of any trip to Myanmar. Dark and early in the morning, enjoy a snack of pastries, croissants, and coffee and watch as the balloons are filled -an experience itself. Then, after boarding the balloon, gently lift off above the temple-studded plains of Bagan just as the sun begins to rise above the horizon. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that won’t soon be forgotten. (Note: available only from late-October to late-March; all flights weather permitting).

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Nyaung U airport for a flight to Heho. It is a quiet transit hill town and the only airport link to the beautiful hills of Shan State.

Then, proceed driving up (59 km - 2 hrs) to Pindaya is a scenic one with many photo opportunities. Depending on arrival time in Pindaya, we can visit the great Shwe U Min Cave, a unique site housing thousands of Buddha statues, placed there by pilgrims over the centuries. 

From there, you will observe at a local family work shop to learn how to make Shan traditional umbrellas and paper from the fibres of the mulberry tree.

From Pindaya, continue visiting to the Red Mountains Wine Estate, a French maker wine in Nyaung Shwe to learn how to produce various kinds of wine in the hill. You will also test the amazing wine for your digestion. Enjoy the breath-taking view from the upper estate of the vine yards.

After that, transfer back to Nyaung Shwe jetty and board by boat to check in at hotel.

After an early breakfast at your hotel, moving across the lake, we will pass through villages with stilted houses; floating gardens built up from strips of land and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. Be on the lookout for fishermen uses unique leg-rowing technique to propel their boats while casting their nets.
Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, one of our stops, is the main sanctuary of Inle Lake and it has five glittering small Buddha statues which covered with gold.
Other stops include Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, a traditional Shan Style monastery with its famous for ancient Buddha images and proceed visiting to the Nam Pan village to observe the cheroot making factory and wooden boat making.
Finally, we head to the hotel in time to catch a beautiful sunset.

After breakfast at your hotel, embark your boat and visit to the lake’s morning lively market. The market rotates its location around the lake’s villages in a 5-day rhythm and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their wares by boat. (Note: market is daily except on dark-moon day and full-moon day and the market days depend on the market calendar).

Transfer to visit the weaving village of Inpawkhone. The workshops produce some fine shawls, scarves and longyi in silk, cotton and threads drawn from the stems of lotus plants.

Then we are leading to the western shore of Indein Pagoda complex, where you can see the ancient Shan style pagodas enshrined white color stupas. We continue on foot by passing through rice fields to the village of Sae Ma.

In the late afternoon, continue sightseeing to one of the monasteries, and on the way back, en-route stop visiting at the Padaung women (long neck ladies) in Ywa Ma village. Transfer back to hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer back to Heho airport and take the domestic flight to Yangon. 

We spend the day visiting Yangon. The last leg of this odyssey includes Botahtaung Pagoda, Colonial Buildings along the Strand Road, Sule Pagoda, proceed visiting to the Bogyoke Aung San Market known as Scott Market (closed on Mondays and Public Holidays). A must visit for tourist; here you can see rows of stalls selling hundreds of gemstone, handicrafts, art, clothes and food stores.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.

We stop by Karaweik Hall, a unique golden barge on Kandawgyi (Royal Lake) for taking photos. It is a place of perfect view of Shwedagon Pagoda.

In evening you will attend a traditional Myanmar cultural show dinner at Karaweik Barge Hall Restaurant. A show can include Myanmar traditional songs and dances displayed by Myanmar Orchestra during the dinner.
